In this uniquely original online storytelling concert, we follow a fictional narrative that takes us back to the 1870s, when Susan B. Anthony traveled to Western Colorado to give one of her now legendary speeches in support of the women’s suffrage movement, ultimately leading Colorado to become one of the first states to grant suffrage to women and eventually help lead the charge toward the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920.
By synthesizing music and poetry, we engage and empower people through the classical timelessness of art song.
Founded in 2015 as “Denver Art Song Project,” Art Song Colorado introduces brand new audiences to the delights of the genre. Their performances include projected super-titles, video and visual art. The group creates online videos that engage, inform and entertain.
Art Song Colorado partners with a range of artists to create innovative art song videos and play with the traditional recital format. They released two albums as Denver Art Song Project and have two more in the works under the DASP label, a nod to their early beginnings.
While the group began in the Denver Area, they have now performed in Colorado Springs, Grand Junction and Fort Collins. Art Song Colorado recently presented at the Videmus conference, “Reflecting on the Past, Reaching to the Future ii” at the University of Michigan.
